About This Plant
Chimonanthus praecox (Wintersweet, Japanese Allspice) is a deciduous, ornamental shrub prized for its fragrant waxy yellow flowers that bloom in late winter to early spring. This heirloom, non-GMO plant is cold-hardy and features upright, spreading branches with a mature height of 10-13 feet. It tolerates full sun to partial shade and well-draining, fertile soil. Flowers are notably fragrant and bloom during winter, adding seasonal interest when most plants are dormant.
